Amazon is selling the Netgear SPH200D for $129.99 (reg. $199.99 ) with $20 rebate. Most Skype phones seem to seem to borrow the designs of Playskool toy phones. Netgear is known for injecting style into the networking products, and brings its unique style to a new line of Skype phones. The SPH200D doubles as a Skype and landline phone.
The products installation is quick and simple except for charging the batteries for the first time (around ten hours for two rechargeable NiMH AAA batteries). The phone has a leg up on the competition by providing a base station that hooks up to your router without needing to connect to a personal computer. You could set up a Skype account directly on the phone or on your PC.
Netgear provides a simple and intuitive interface, which makes it easy to SkypeIn, SkypeOut, and use the landline. The speakerphone provides solid sound quality. Voice mail and additional ringtones are available for the phone. The current price for the Netgear SPH200D makes it a steal.
