Amazon must of went through several prototypes to perfect the feel and overall dimensions of device. Unlike other gizmos centered around passive activities, the kindle will always be the center of attention during any reading period. it feels comfortable to hold in one (left or right). The original Kindle’s flimsy keys turned off several first adopters. The Kindle 2 “next page” buttons are perfectly situated and allow for a natural movement. The scroll button is still a bit cramped but not obtrusive.
The device utilizes an improved E-Ink technology, which simulates printed pages. Pages load quicker and in more vivid detail on a larger 600×800 display. The new Kindle takes borrow heavily from the Apple iPod. The design is simply incredible: brushed aluminum backplate, insanely thin profile, and an overall sturdy feel.
Built-in Dictionary and Note taking finally opens the door for serious readers to get work done. The full keyboard, situated at the bottom of the device, enables quick note taking and book searches. Amazon has also included a text to speech feature that turns any of your kindle books into an audiotape. The storage has been bumped up to 2GB internal memory. The battery life has been increased by 25%.
By launching with more than ten thousand e-books, magazines, newspapers, and blogs, Amazon is seriously pushing their little white device. All digital content can be bought from the friendly Amazon online store. The great thing e-books is the prices, which are usually a third of the paperback price. They also spotlight a new magazine and newspaper subscription model.
The Kindle forgoes wifi for the more widespread EVDO network by Sprint. Amazon also offers a conversion service, which enables you to read your personal documents.
