The Kindle finally enables us to comfortably read theĀ  millions of free books available on the Internet. Amazon’s addition of native PDF support expands the number of books available to Kindle owners. We count down the best digital book repositories. It must be noted that these digital books can be used on any E-Book reader (Sony, nook, Kindle, etc.).

  1. Kindle Store: Amazon recently added more than 6,000 public domain books.
  2. ManyBooks: It features the complete Project Gutenberg collection of 20,000 books in Kindle book format. Simply go to the site with your Kindle web browser.
  3. Google Book Search: The search engine giant has scanned countless of classic. Click on “Full View Only” and “Book” options. Search for your book. Download in ePub format. Convert ePub format to Mobi format with Calibre. Sync to Kindle.
  4. eBook Searchr: This is a PDF search engine minus the spam. It only searches trusted repositories.
  5. Planet eBook: Small selection but offers high quality ebooks.
  6. DailyLit: Offers several books and an option to subscribe to daily “chapter” emails of a book.
  7. Internet Archive: Almost two million free books.
  8. MobileRead: Around three thousand books in Kindle format.
  9. Wowio: A well organized library but features a three free books a day limit.
  10. Flazx: Free IT books.
  11. FreeTechBooks and FreeComputerBooks
  12. MobiPocket: free Mobi format eBooks in several languages.
  13. Online Book Initiative: Barebones directory that contains plenty of books.
  14. Bookyards: Offers around 16,000 eBooks.
  15. Librivox: Dedicated volunteers add audiobooks to this fantastic website. Around 1000 audiobooks are available.
  16. UPenn Online Library: You will not be able to download the books. You will have to surf to the website
