In 2002, Joss Whedon, creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, weaved an exception 14-episode science fiction series, Firefly, which concluded with theatrical release of Serenity. Fox doomed the original series by airing episodes in a random, disjointed fashion. Whedon combined spaceships with the cowboy-bounty hunting of the the American frontier.
